Creed's Dedication

The day after Creed's 1st Birthday party (view pics here), I also documented his dedication. This was such a special event! All the family and friends were gathered, there was a super powerful sermon delivered and loads of yummy treats afterwards. The best part about the day was that moment where the pastor asked everyone to reach out their hands towards Creed for the blessing and he reached out his little hand too, I was so happy to have captured that moment for him and his parents! 

Tatum and Grant - I hope the two of you will experience joy and many blessings together as a family in the years to come. You have a wonderful family - cherish them forever! I look forward to doing a portrait session with you guys in the future somewhere nice. Perhaps on the beach even! :)

Creed's 1st Birthday Party

I love photographing kids' birthday parties! There's just so much going on and all the kiddies are having so much fun playing, eating snacks... it's just really fun to observe and photograph :) Creed's first birthday party was quite the event, with loads of beautifully made snacks and treats (yes, they were all hand-made by his aunty Moira - this lady is awesome, I'm telling you!) and lots of friends and family to share this special milestone with them.

Tatum and Grant - thank you for inviting me into your home for two days to capture both Creed's 1st birthday party as well as his dedication (view pics here) the next day. You guys are wonderful people, as are your entire family. And your son is such a sweetie! I hope to take pictures of you guys again in the future. Enjoy these in the meantime! :)

Klein Lana en haar mamma Nushka en pappa Woodford

Toe ek my nuwe kamera kry so paar weke terug, toe weet ek dit is mos die regte tyd om 'n foto sessie te reël met Nushka en Woodford. Ek het so lank al uitgesien om hulle babatjie te ontmoet! Eintlik ken ek die pragtige couple al baie lank. Ons het saam groot geword, al drie van ons, en dit is vir my so 'n wonderlike storie van hoe hulle op die ou end mekaar gekies het in hierdie lewensreis. Die tweetjies is 'n paartjie gemaak vir mekaar, en stunning mense daarby!

En so gebeur dit toe dat ons so op nommer 99 reël om sommer bietjie saam te kuier op die gras buite hul woonplek sodat ons hierdie mooie kind in 'n prentjie kan vasvang - want jy weet, kinders word te gou groot en foto's is kosbare goed vir die toekoms!

Om kindertjies af te neem is nie altyd dadelik maklik of aangenaam vir hulle nie - soos in die geval van Lana - hulle sny tande, hulle word wakker en is nie in die beste van buie nie, hulle is honger, of miskien het hulle 'n on-lekker magie. Maar dan kom daar altyd oomblikke deur wanneer hulle absoluut die show steel, en glimlag en gesiggies trek en sommer net alles bekyk en bewonder. En dan is dit die mees amazingste ding om te sien hoe ouers ten spyte van al die wakker-bly-aande as dit moeilik gaan, soveel liefde, koester en omgee oor het vir die klein bondeltjie mensies. Van dit wat ek sien is ouerskap nie grappies nie, maar eerder 'n ander tipe happiness.

Lana het net wakker geword toe ons haar buitentoe gevat het, so sy was gladnie happy met ons nie - soos julle in 'n paar van die eerste fototjies sal sien (selfs daai dik lip gesiggie is cute!), maar toe sy eers begin smile was daar geen end nie. Sy is 'n pragtige, vriendelike poppie met die mooiste blou oë! En dan sou Nushka nou gesê het: "Het julle al haar ma gesien?"
